Grub Burger Review

Handcrafted Burgers, Drinks, and Shakes

There area a multitude of opportunities to obtain gourmet and handcrafted burgers in The Woodlands, you could do a lot worse than Grub Burger Bar *cough*Jerry Built*cough* in Research Forest. But you might find yourself hard-pressed to do much better. Though it's been a while since we attempted to find the best burger in The Woodlands, and since that past adventure, a few of our favorites have sadly, ceased to exist, while other new restaurants have opened their doors and we have yet to give them a try. That being said, Grub Burger Bar definitely deserves to be on the short-list of where in The Woodlands to get a great burger. The interior of Grub Burger Bar is eclectic, yet simple. Cutting edge, yet cold. There's not a lot of color splashed around, what with the exposed-concrete floors, butcher-block tables, steel stools, and black bench booths along the walls.

BurgerFi Review

BurgerFi The Woodlands

In May, we did a whole series on burgers around The Woodlands for National Burger Month. You might recall we covered Taco USA, JAX Burgers, JP's Grill, and Honey Bee Ham & Deli.

After taking a break from all that beef, we were more than ready to head over to BurgerFi for their soft opening event tonight and give them a try.

Working on moving westward across the nation from their home base in Florida, BurgerFi (presumably short for Burgerfication), promises to give patrons a better burger by offering only hormone- and antibiotic-free, vegetarian-fed, all-natural Angus beef, which, according to them, means you're getting the "flavor and tenderness that we've come to expect in a fine steak, is now made possible in a hamburger."

JP's Grill Review

JP's Burgers Spring Texas

It's week three of our continuing coverage of Burger Month in and around The Woodlands. As much as we love a good hamburger or cheeseburger, we just can't possibly eat as many of them as we'd like to review. So this week we reached out to some friends of ours, and after (very little) arm-twisting, convinced them to come along on our burger expedition. This week's stop: JP's Grill, in the Woodwinds Center on Sawdust Road.

So far, we've sampled a couple of all-American cheeseburgers at Taco USA, in the Grogan's Mill Village Center, and stopped in at our reigning favorite, JAX Burgers, Fries & Shakes, at their newest location on Spring Cypress Road.

Taco USA Burger Review

Great Burgers @ Taco USA

Spring is a great time for wonderful weather; perfect for dining on some of the many patios around The Woodlands, or grilling in your own back yard. And in case you needed another excuse to enjoy a great hamburger, you'll be thrilled to know in the realm of "food holidays you probably didn't know existed," May is National Barbecue Month, National Chocolate Custard Month, and, most importantly, National Burger Month.

Our plans to celebrate such a glorious month include sampling a variety of burgers, and reporting back to you on a fair selection of them; some from places we've been to a dozen times before, and some from places you'd never event think to order a burger. It's from this end of the spectrum we begin; by grabbing a couple of burgers at Taco USA.

Honey Bee Hamburgers Review

Burgers in Cochran's Crossing

may is national burger monthSadly, Burger Month has come to a close. We tried to pace ourselves, but we'll admit; in addition to the four we reviewed, we probably ate at least another couple of them each this month. Not more than that, though. Really. Variety is the spice of life and burgers will have to take a back seat for a while. To that end, our last review of the month takes place at a well-established, village favorite restaurant known for the size & variety of it's menu: Honey Bee Ham & Deli, in the Cochran's Crossing Village Center (Research Forest Drive and Gos Ling Road).

To recap, we've sampled a couple of all-American cheeseburgers at Taco USA, in the Grogan's Mill Village Center, and stopped in at our reigning favorite, JAX Burgers, Fries & Shakes, at their newest location on Spring Cypress Road (long time area residents might recall this was previous Ly "Charlie's Hamburger Joint". A week earlier we took some friends along for a very enjoyable round of burgers at JP's Grill down the way on Sawdust Road.

3B's Bills Burger Beer

Bill's Beer & Burgers

The perfect burger, however, seems to be alluding us - or maybe we're just being too judgmental. After all, we loved Coal Burger, adore Hubbell & Hudson Kitchen's burgers, and are over the moon for Crescent Moon's burger. Maybe we just need to go sample them all again. Can we get a volunteer to come along? Point is, in our quest, we made a stop in at 3 B's Bill's Burgers & Beer recently and, well... we're still searching. Not that it was bad, it could actually be pretty good provided you had a beer to wash it down.

Bar Louie Review The Woodlands

$1 Burgers at Bar Louie

The Woodlands has a plethora of restaurants and a splattering of bars, many of them all located in Town Center. The Waterway District in The Woodlands is fast becoming a prime location to get your drink on and/or grab a bite to eat.

She said - If you haven't noticed yet, I have an affinity for a bacon cheeseburger. There's just something in me that says if I'm going to indulge in having a burger, I may as well go all-out and add the extra dairy and pork. It's not like that's how I grew up or anything. All during my childhood I don't recall a single time Dad ever fried up some bacon the same nights he ever grilled burgers. But anyway, the enticement of getting a bacon cheeseburger for a mere $2.75 was too much to pass up. I mean, really. That's less than most fast-food places, and for a better product.

Katz's Express Review

Lunch and More at Katz's Express

Katz's Express has been in the Portofino Shopping Center since 2006, allowing area residents and visitors alike to enjoy Kosher-Style foods. As we normally do, we like to revisit area restaurants more than once in order to get a wider perspective of the food and service. For example, our first review of Katz's in Shenandoah had come after having eaten there several times, usually finding the eatery to be good yet, less than spectacular.

Mooyah Burger Review

Mooyah Burger

We first visited Mooyah Burger just after they opened in early May, 2012. We had heard through the grapevine that they were similar to Five Guys with walk-up counter ordering and burgers wrapped in aluminum foil. And for the most part, 'they' were right with some minor exceptions. Mooyah Burger is s Lightly less environmentally friendly as they have a paper form for customers to first comprehend, then write their order down/check the boxes and then present it to the cashier. Have a burger and help kill a tree in 15 seconds or less.
